My name is Cami Richardson, and I stand before you as someone with a profound dedication to serving Summit County based on my extensive experience, passionate advocacy, and commitment to fiscal responsibility and inclusivity.

As a candidate for the upcoming Summit County Council election, I am pleased to present myself as someone deeply committed to the issues and concerns affecting the prosperity and growth in our community and willing to provide a fresh look at our County.

Throughout my careers and personal life, I've cultivated a diverse professional background. From serving as a professional firefighter in New York to holding leadership positions in the business world, including my tenure as the Chief Financial Officer of American Ski Company, taking the company public and my ownership of multiple local businesses. I bring forth a wealth of expertise and a keen understanding of fiscal matters.

My active involvement in various local organizations, including founding and leading business associations and serving in executive roles, has provided me with invaluable experience in navigating governmental boards and understanding community needs.

Moreover, my dedication to fostering inclusivity and advocating for diverse voices is evident through my co-founding and co-chairing of the Park City LGBTQ+ Task Force, along with continuous efforts in promoting diversity, equality, and inclusivity within our community.

My platform for the Summit County Council election focuses on crucial issues such as fiscal responsibility, senior and affordable housing initiatives, strengthening the relationships between the county and its cities and development of a ski resort task force. These initiatives align with my vision to create a more prosperous and supportive environment for all residents of Summit County. (see attached file for more important details on my platform)

I am proud of my personal accomplishments, including being a graduate of Park City Leadership Class 28, my public speaking engagements, and my published works. Why am I running for Summit County Council?

I believe in democracy, and I believe in change, and it is my humble opinion that anyone running for a 4th four-year term should not run unopposed. I am a fresh face in politics and I'm in this race to win it! My election would bring a different perspective, innovative ideas, and varied experiences that will contribute to a dynamic and responsive governance. Over time, entrenched leadership might lose touch with evolving community needs or overlook alternative solutions due to long standing perspectives. I believe that introducing new voices on the Council, like mine, will revitalize the decision-making process. My candidacy offers the promise of financial accountability, a second Eastern County resident with a seat on the council, and a keen understanding of the current challenges faced by our county, having been a long-time resident. By electing a new Council member, such as myself, and someone that has been a long-time advocate for marginalized groups, we invite diverse viewpoints and a renewed commitment to address emerging issues. My candidacy signals a commitment to community engagement, inclusivity and a dedication to serving the people of Summit County with a modern vision. As constituents, you seek leaders who not only acknowledge the successes of the past but also proactively shape a progressive future. My candidacy embodies this pursuit of progress, promising a responsive and accountable leadership that resonates with the evolving needs of our community. Change in government is crucial for progress. Together, by electing me to this council seat, we will embrace change for the betterment of Summit county's future.

How can I get involved and support you for council?

At the upcoming Democratic Party Caucus on March 5th, I am in need of dedicated individuals like yourself to stand as delegates. Your role would involve attending the caucus meeting on March 5th at 3 different locations in the county based on where you live. If chosen, you would then represent our shared values at the convention on March 26th at Park City High School.

Also, I would really appreciate a donation if possible. I will need every dollar to be competitive against Roger. Click on this link to make your donation:

About Cami

With a diverse professional background, my expertise spans various domains. I started my careers as a professional firefighter in Poughkeepsie, New York rising to the rank of Training officer. My experience as the former Chief Financial Officer of American Ski Company, including taking the company public in 1997, and ownership of multiple businesses in the area, including the Park City local card, Park City Meat and Provisions, Summit County Beef, and Beadniks, highlight my entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen.
I have been very active in many local organizations over the years and was the President and Founder of the Redstone Merchants Association and then became the President of the Kimball Junction Business Association. I was appointed as Executive Director of Summit County Beef before buying the operation outright from the county. I have also served as the Executive Director of Temple Har Shalom for a few years.
I gained much experience dealing with town and county government boards as the lead developer of a successful 12-unit affordable housing project while living on Martha's Vineyard in the mid 2000s, one of the first affordable housing projects on the island.
Throughout her years in Utah, I have been an active participant in various organizations, notably co-founding in 2020 and co-chairing the Park City LGBTQ+ Task Force. My unwavering support and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community have been evident through my service on local LGBTQ+ boards and organizing events and my relentless efforts in promoting diversity, equality and inclusivity within the Wasatch back.
I came out in 2016 as transgender and state, “My personal mission in life is to help educate and enlighten people about the transgender community by being out in the public domain, day in and day out, just being me and setting a good example. I can’t think of a better way to live to that mission than by running for county council. I've had some amazing careers and accomplishments, but nothing compares to the satisfaction I get from being an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. I believe I am making a difference in Summit County.”
I am a graduate of Park City Leadership Class 28, underscoring her commitment to personal and professional growth within the local community. My staunch support for senior citizen housing initiatives reflects her dedication to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all residents.
As a public speaker and a published author of two memoirs, Do You Know Who I Once Was? and Foggy Goggles, I bring a unique storytelling perspective to my candidacy, resonating with the community through my personal narratives. In 2020, I was fortunate to do a TEDx talk called "Transgender by Generations” that was well received.
